Privacy Policy

The Cover Charge (thecovercharge.com) is operated by Trevor Boardman. It lets someone put a price on their calendar link, and lets other people pay that price to book a meeting. This policy explains what we store, why, and how to make us delete it.

What we collect

If you publish a link we store your name, email address, profile photo, the text you write about yourself, your price, your meeting length, and the weekly hours you make available. If you connect a calendar, we store an encrypted OAuth token for it. If you connect Stripe, we store the identifier of your Stripe account — never your bank details, which stay with Stripe.

If you book someone we store your name, your email address, anything you write in the booking note, and the identifiers Stripe gives us for your payment. You do not need an account.

For every meeting we store the times each side joined and left the video room. That log is how a no-show refund is decided without anyone having to argue about it.

We never see or store card numbers. Payments run entirely through Stripe.

Google Calendar data

If you connect a Google account, we request two permissions and no others: reading your free/busy times, and creating calendar events. We use free/busy information solely to avoid offering a time you are already booked — we do not read the titles, guests, or contents of your events. We use event creation solely to put a booked meeting on your calendar.

The Cover Charge’s use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, do not use it for advertising, do not use it to train machine learning models, and do not let humans read it except with your explicit permission, to resolve a support issue you have raised, or where the law requires it.

Calendar tokens are encrypted at rest. You can disconnect your calendar at any time from your dashboard, or revoke our access directly from your Google account permissions. Disconnecting deletes the stored token.

Who else sees your data

We share only what each service needs to do its job: Stripe (payments and payouts), Google (calendar), our video provider (to create the meeting room and report who joined), our email provider (to send booking confirmations and reminders), and our hosting and database providers. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

The person you book, and the person who books you, necessarily see each other’s name, email address, and the booking note.

How long we keep it

Booking and payment records are kept while your account is open and for as long afterwards as tax and accounting rules require. Attendance logs are kept for two years, because they are the evidence behind a refund decision. Calendar tokens are deleted as soon as you disconnect.

Your choices

Write to support@thecovercharge.com to get a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted. Deleting your account removes your profile, your calendar tokens, and your link. We keep the minimum record of completed payments that the law requires.
